With the winter season my skin, as I age, gets a lot more dry. I have been using the Badger Balm Rose Beauty Balm and it has helped a great deal in combating a lot of dry skin. I also use this balm on my hands, elbows, and my knees. We have completely cut out plastic in our home. No matter what, a few things slip through the door from time to time, but as far as purposely bringing plastic in we have gotten into a routine of changing our habits. Along with those habit shifts we have cut out the use of plastic wrap and plastic bags completely. In place of it we have been using Bee's Wrap. Of course, there are a lot of other brands out there, but we stand strong with the original Bee's Wrap food wrap for most of our food wrap. Since Burt's Bees ended their BooBoo Stick, it took me awhile to find a proper replacement. I found it in this Inesscents Skin Salve. Perfect for booboos, cuts, and even dry skin. CBD has become a staple in our house from its healing properties to it's calming properties. These sheet masks are amazing and definitely something to add to your selfcare Sunday routine. Flossing is a necessity and this reusable pick is a hit in our house, as well as the mouthwash tablets. We have all been enjoying the Sweet Baby Orange Shampoo. It smells amazing and it's made with natural ingredients and plant based cleansers. More on the CBD additions, these gummies are great for aches, pains, and anxiety. I've been using them at night, especially this time of year, which is the hardest for me. The holidays brings on a lot of anxious thoughts, and panic issues, and I like to use these gummies at night to help relax my mind. I also have been using the Stress & Fatigue Formula to help with my seasonal depression, and PTSD. We also do not have an ice maker in our house, so this stainless steel ice cube tray has been a great substitute for an ice maker. During the holidays and even throughout the year it's nice to have a glass of iced something on hot days and even sitting in front of our fireplace relaxing. These are all of my favorite things right now and I hope some of them peek your interest and become your favorites, as well. Happy winter solstice!

During the summer months the sun and salt water really beat up my hair and as the autumn season rolls around I like to give it a bit of a boost. This apple cider hair rinse really comes through. It is not only a better-made product and nonchemical, it really gives my hair a good recovery from all the product, sun damage, salt water, and anything else I tend to beat my hair up with over the summer. You can pair it with the Avalon Organics Shampoo and Conditioner, but any shampoo and conditioner combination works great. As the seasons change, I try to mix up the colors I use. I love this lip and cheek coloring by Mad Hippie. There's fig, poppy, and plum color, but I love the plum color for the seasonal change. And, their eco-friendly packaging is a plus. This product comes in a glass tub with a bamboo lid. We've been looking for more eco-friendly outdoor furniture that can put up with all the rain Oregon gets throughout the year. And, I think we hit it with the Polywood collection. Made from recycled plastics and can definitely withstand the weather changes here on the Pacific Northwest. With the change of seasons comes germs and colds, and I like to use this time to switch out our hand soaps throughout the house. I love the organic lemon rosemary scent from Moon Valley Organics. And, even though our guard is a bit lowered now that the pandemic is getting controlled we still haven't let our guard down with hand washing with soap and water, and using hand sanitizers. We've also found some great lunch items that are more sustainable, and also switched to using natural loofahs in the shower over plastic loofahs. I also have been taking a liking to small bags to use for lunch, day trips, change for filling our water jugs, and even small snacks. And, with the change in seasons, a new throw blanket was definitely in order. Our old blankets always get handed down to Hardy, Eleven, or even in our duck house to help with insulation. Hopefully these items peek your interest, as well, and help you make some seasonal changes for the better. Happy Autumnal Equinox!

8. Thayers Natural Lavender Face Toner, Face Mist

It's summertime, finally, right? Here are a few things I've added to my routine. I have been looking into changing up more of my skincare routine and SPF is always a plus. Being over 40, sun exposure to the face is definitely something to avoid. I've been liking ILIA products lately. Made with better ingredients and I love their skin tint with SPF. It doesn't make my skin oily, or break me out additionally to what I already deal with. Also, the All Good sunstick in coconut is amazing! The smell is heavenly and I find myself using it all over because it smells so great. With it being summer, too, time to bring in some summer scents into my car with the car diffuser, too. Spending a lot more time at the coast, those smells don't need to be brought home, especially from our wet suits. Hanging clothes on the line, refreshing drinks with some fun additions and crushed ice is great during the summertime. Along with facecare comes washing and toning. I'm loving Earthen Skincare face wash and the Thayers Lavender Toner. I like to wash my face, and then using the Thayers toner in lavender to press it into my skin. It's very hydrating and I like to use it to prep my skin before adding sunscreen or the tinted sunscreen. I also included some random items like the sunflower grow kit and sidewalk chalk to help embrace the kid inside of us. Also, some beeswax wrap DIY kit. If you haven't made the change from plastic-free to more sustainable options, this a good start. Give it a go this summer and you won't go back to cling-wrap, or even plastic food covers again!

3. Observer's Notebooks (Astronomy, Birds, Butterfly, Home, Trees, Weather)

It's spring, which means, change in lip color, updating some cookware, and a few other items that have caught my eye lately. Always loving a new book, and these are great for observations around your home, or while on the road. A bottle opener, a hard case travel kit, a pocket knife, and some lip balm, could all be added to a road trip travel kit. We are looking into taking some more road trips soon, but everything is just so strange right now, that it's on hold. Also, with my anxiety struggles, puzzles have been a great thing to help me keep my mind off of things. I've been struggling a bit hard lately, and I highly recommend these two varieties of puzzles, if you have anxiety/PTSD/panic issues, as well. And, last, but definitely not least, with aging skin, face and skin care is a plus. I love powder to foam daily face cleaner. It leaves my face feeling amazing and soft. It isn't harsh and doesn't dry out my face, or break me out.

Sometimes wants

When it comes to minimizing there's always that chance that we may purchase something we don't need. All in all though, it's nice to dream and imagine what it would be like to buy things at a certain time. It's window shopping at its best. Here's a list of things I'd love to have, but don't really need.

These items seem to call to me and one, or two, of them may join me in the coming months. Market baskets have peeked my interest for awhile now, but I haven't liked the colors of the ones I've seen at our local co-op lately. Bright red and oranges just aren't my style when it comes to basket colors. I've had my eye on the market basket above for some time now and I feel from this list it is the only thing I can say for certainty that I will purchase. The rest of this list is amazing items from some extraordinary companies. Ethically sourced and environmentally sound companies. And for me, some of them are even local. Give them a gander and see what items peek your interest.
