Wednesday walks

We've decided to make every Wednesday a day to walk and enjoy the spring.  It's a great chance to get out and see what's new in and around our own neighborhood and even in local parks and trails.  Yesterday we took a quick walk around the block just to see what was blooming.

Eco-Tip:  Before throwing an item away consider having a garage or yard sale and give it someone else to keep the life of the item alive still.  Also, shop at garage sales before going and buying new.  Remember the old phrase, someone's trash is another person's treasure.  For this and other tips for going green visit, The Earth and Me Go Green.

April Fools fun

In case you don't follow me on Twitter, and you missed it, this is what I did to my son on April Fool's Day.

I LOVE pranks and jokes on April Fool's Day.  I am so bad, I plot the pranks and jokes out for the entire year.  I saw this balloon door used as a birthday surprise HERE.  So I thought, why not use it for April Fool's Day instead.

My little Siamese/Persian (MEIA) wasn't too sure what to make of all that balloons on the floor.

She soon agreed that they weren't there to cause her harm.

Hope your April Fool's Day was a fun day like ours was!

Eco-Tip:  Bring more nature into your yard by supplying local wildlife with food, shelter, and water sources.  A bird bath, bird feeder, and birdhouses will bring in local birds near your home.  They will rely on the items available to them and come back year after year too!  For this and other tips on going green visit, The Earth and Me Go Green.

Quote the Raven 'Nevermore'

Here in Oregon we have had sunshine peeking through the clouds, but we are slowly getting through spring.  I see spring peeking its head through on flowers blooming, and last weekend for Easter it got up to 75 degrees.  But on Friday it was wet and cloudy, but that didn't stop Skylar and I from heading to the local park and having a bit of fun.  While we were there the ravens and crows were having a bit of fun flying from tree to tree and hopping around the parking lot.  There was so many of them it reminded me of The Raven from Edgar Allen Poe.

Much I marveled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning - little relevancy bore;
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door -
Bird or beast above the sculptured bust above his chamber door,
With such name as `Nevermore.'

But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only,
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did out-pour.
Nothing further then he uttered - not a feather then he fluttered -
Till I scarcely more than muttered `Other friends have flown before -
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before.'
Then the bird said, `Nevermore.'
