Fluoro Pine Cone Wreath

What you'll need:  

Newspaper

Pine Cones

White Spray Paint

Hot Pink or other bright colored-Spray Paint

Cable Ties (200mm)

Wire Ring

Nail

Scissors

Instructions:  

Lay out newspaper on work surface and spray paint each pine cone with white spray paint, then with the pink spray paint.  Allow to dry and attach each pine cone to the wire ring with the cable ties.  One at the top of the pine cone and one around the bottom of the pine cone.  Cut off any excess tie and attach the wreath to a door or wall with the nail or other hook.  

Eco-Tip:  Be sure and wash clothes with a full load or opt for purchasing a washer that allows you to adjust the water level for load.  For smaller loads use the lowest water setting as to not waste water.  For this and other tips on going green visit, The Earth and Me Go Green.

Bottle Brush Trees

 What to do:

 

1. Grab a bag of bottle brushes… you know, the ugly green kind that come in packs at the dollar store.

2. Fill your sink with a couple of caps of bleach and toss those guys right in. You will notice the bleach working wonders on the bottles immediately. You can bleach them until they are white or pull them out at different times to get shades of greens.

3. Rinse them and set aside to dry.

4. With wire cutters cut the wire of the brush at least 1-inch below the end of your brushes.

5. Make a pine tree shape out of your brushes by trimming the bristles of the brush to be tapered in the shape of a Christmas tree. Make sure that you cut the bristles at the top much shorter than the rest and leave the bristles longer when you reach the bottom.

6. If you want natural trees you can go ahead and add bases with wine bottle corks (cut to size), with wire from the brush, or by using adding styrofoam or wood circles. If you want some holiday cheer on your tree you can use RIT dye to make your desired color and add flocking and glitter to your hearts desire!

Christmas Clothespins!

What you'll need:

Scissors

Large and Small Clothes Pins

Masking Tape in clear

Glitter, in different colors

Small toys

Glue gun

Mode Podge

Small paint brush

Instructions:

Cover the sides of the clothes pins with the masking tape that you don't want glittered and use the scissors to cut the sides of the tape to the width of the clothes pin (this is sort of acting as painters' tape).  Using the small paint brush, brush a small amount of Mod Podge onto the flat surface of the clothes pin.  Sprinkle your glitter colors over the clothes pin where you painted the Mod Podge and tap to remove any excess.  Allow to dry overnight and apply a second coat of Mod Podge to seal the glitter into place.  Allow to dry for several hours.

Once your Mod Podge is dry, take a small toy and hot glue it to the large end of the clothes pin and allow to dry completely.  And you're done!  These glittered clothes pins can be used for ornaments on your tree, or added to the top of packages for a fun, festive, addition to your wrapping.
