Wednesday Walks (5-1-2013)

Our Wednesday walk this week took us on a short little road trip down I5 and over to Corvallis.  We stopped off at a few areas along I5 to take in the views that were just amazing yesterday.  The sun shined all day and it almost felt like summertime was here already.  We also took a short cruise over to Corvallis and stopped off at Jim's Fruit Stand.  There wasn't a lot to pick from yet, but we could already see they were gearing up for a large crop to share with us all very soon.  Overall it was a great day!

I can see a showing of my Rain Lily peeking up through the ground in my front flowerbed too.  Spring has sprung here in Oregon and I can't wait till the heat hits up and we can start having outside time once more.

Wonderful Wednesday walk to take in the spring air and beauty.

Eco-Tip:  When it comes to cleaning don't overlook your indoor air quality.  Indoor air quality can be contaminated five times more than outdoor air (EPA), so with that knowledge be sure and equip your vacuum with a HEPA filter, use an air purifier, and clean with steam or nontoxic cleaners.  For this and other tips for going green visit, The Earth and Me Go Green.

A stop off at Jim's Fruit Stand

We took a little trip to Jim's Fruit Stand in Corvallis and took in the sunny days and fruity smells.  It was a great day to bask in the sunshine here in the valley and enjoy the good picks we found along the way.

Eco-Tip:  Green apps for our Smart Phone can make your life a lot easier and help to make better choices for yourself and the planet.  Not sure where to start?  There's many apps out there that promise to help you live a greener lifestyle, but most don't follow through.  For a good list of starter green apps for your Smart Phone visit Oregon Green Living Examiner page via Examiner.com to help you get started.  For this and other tips on going green visit, The Earth and Me Go Green.

Blue Jay spy

Blue Jays are all over the place here in Oregon this time of year and since the big pine tree was cut down a few weeks ago, they have been looking for a new place to perch and make their steal a nest.  These two Blue Jays were seen a few days in a row right outside my living room window, so instead of them stalking me, I stalked them.  Ha!

Some find them annoying, but I like to watch them.  Blue Jays are pretty clever birds and seek out what they need regardless of what's around.  Even the neighbor cat doesn't hold them back.

Eco-Tip:  Now is the time to start getting that garden or raised bed in order to grow your own vegetables and berries.  Growing your own food from a garden is a great way to live a greener lifestyle and it also helps you eat better throughout the summer months.  For this and other tips on going green visit, The Earth and Me Go Green.
